and Collaborative Treatment Procedures

Bellevue Pain Institute’s Signature Multi-Step Protocol

To successfully heal without drugs or surgery, the disc material needs:

Decompression, Laser Therapy, Hydration, Specific Nutrition and Rehabilitation

1: Spinal Decompression Procedure

Bellevue Pain Institute utilizes an advanced  computerized axial technology that delivers therapeutic distraction forces to specifically targeted spinal segments. This advanced system provides fast pain relief for severe back and neck pain sufferers by gently reducing the pressure with the spinal discs and the specific area. It works by a gentle pulling action creating negative pressure that acts to expand the discs thereby slowly cycling between brief moments of pulling and then relaxing (oscillation) which reduces protective muscle spasms. A vacuum effect is developed which increases the flow of blood rich in nutrients, oxygen, and water to produce a natural healing effect. The advanced Spinal Decompression Tables that we use in our center allow us to customize each treatment based upon our patients individual needs.

2: Deep Tissue and Cold Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy increases circulation, transports specific medical nutrition, and hydrates the disc material by transmitting photons of light energy through the skins layers. Pain relief is provided because the laser have an immuno-suppressive and anti-inflammatory effect that reduce tissue swelling. There is also nerve stimulation for patients that suffer with numbness.

Some of the many advantages of Laser Therapy are:

  • Muscle relaxation
  • Improved blood circulation
  • Improved mitochondrial function for cellular turn over
  • Increased anti-inflammatory effect
  • Increased serotonin and endorphins
  • Increased lymphatic flow

3: Whole Body Vibration Rehabilitation

Every patient has very specific and individual rehabilitative needs. Like aerobic and anaerobic exercise, whole body vibration decreases pain, increases physical strength, dexterity, and endurance. The vibrations increase the production of regenerative and repair hormones, improve blood circulation in skin and muscles, and improve bone density and strength. Other benefits noted are enhanced motor control, improved balance, relief of chronic pain, increase blood circulation, improved lymphatic drainage, and an increase your basal metabolic rate.

Research in whole body vibration technology began in the late 1970s with the development of a vibration system by a Russian sports scientist and is now used in most competitive sports, ballet, medicine, and even on the International Space Station for the maintenance of muscle strength, mass, and bone density.

At Bellevue Pain Institute, our special focus for this modality is to re-hydrate and nurture the unhealthy disc back to health.

4: Upright Vertical Rehabilitation

Once some changes in the structural anatomy begin to take place, the implementation of non-compressive rehabilitation takes place in the form of;

i. lengthening of the shortened or spasmodic musculature and,

ii. strengthening of the commonly weakened core muscles.

Traditional core exercises inclusive of crunches, reverse crunches, planks etc., all have the negative side-effect of causing compression to the spinal discs which most times is the root cause and has the opposite affect of spinal decompression.

5: Anti-inflammatory Food sensitivity Testing and Functional Nutrition Support

The human body is made up of some 30-50 Trillion cells.  Each new cell division rely solely on what we put in our mouth for the energy and nutrients to do the job.  We can have an influence on how “Healable” we are by what we put in our mouths.  KNOWING what foods specifically are best for you can help your pain relief in the short term and your overall health in the long term.  We use MRT (Mediator Release Test) Blood studies  to reveal the foods that stimulate the auto-immune system to be hyper active and cause disease and increased system wide inflammation.   The spinal disc is made up of three primary components; water, oxygen, and nutrients. We also provide specific spinal support vitamin supplements which contain nutrients that target the disc to help with the healing and repair processes. These supplements help absorption of micro and macro-nutrients, promote cartilage maintenance and collagen synthesis while decreasing inflammation and supporting the body’s natural healing response.
